The building is massed as a single dark form with verandahs carved from its volume.

Its broad gable is oriented toward the bush a harbour views, the form nested within the kānuka.

Internally, the spaces are lined in native tōtara and kahikatea, accented with worked alloy plate and occupied by custom-designed furniture in solid macrocarpa and yellow cedar.
